Wine Notes | Succulent, fine boned, lightly juicy, green apple and quince flavours, scents of potpourri, ripe apple and ginger. Flavours are drawn ultra long on that gloss of texture then finish with a powdery puff of talc and light pleasing bitterness. Lots of personality built into this wine. It’s a wine of finesse but also a wild streak. This is accentuated by extended skin contact, time on lees and no filteration, which can cause a hazy hue. |

Koerner Wines
Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. The wines are produced from fruit grown in the Watervale area of the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from the family vineyard. Gullyview vineyard has been owned and managed by their parents, (Christine & Anthony Koerner), for the past 38 years.
The winemaking philosophy is very simple – that is the wines are made in the vineyard. The Koerner’s pick early and use very hands-off winemaking techniques. As a result, the wines are light, fresh, textured and well-structured with high drinkability in mind. The Koerner Pigato Vermentino is one of the new wave wines that cements this philosophy.
The Koerner brothers truly bridge the gap between tradition and the natural wine movement. There is a family heritage with the fruit coming from well established 40 year old family owned vineyards. However, experimentation with plantings of some more adventurous Mediterranean varieties has bolstered this in recent times. The fruit is treated with minimal intervention, thus creating a new genre of wines not seen from the Clare Valley before.
