Wine Notes | A Shiraz of power and elegance along with distinctive spice and dark fruit aromas leads to a powerful savoury palate with blackberry and liquorice flavours. Fine-grained tannins provide excellent structure, power and weight and a very long finish. |

PARINGA
Having a “wine epiphany” has become something of a cliché. For Lindsay McCall, this epiphany led to the creation of one of the finest wineries in Australia.
In 1984, Lindsay, a geography teacher at the time, bought an old north-facing orchard located in the heart of Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula wine region. A year later, after clearing it, he began planting the ten-acre property with vines. The first vintage was in 1987, however yields were dismal and led to a very small bottling. The first commercial vintage was a year later and was soon followed by Lindsays first success, wining gold with his 1990 Shiraz. By the late nineties the Paringa wines were wining numerous awards and gaining excellent reviews in the media. Lindsay McCall became known for an absolutely exceptional gift for winemaking across a range of styles but with immensely complex pinot noir and shiraz leading the way. The continual development of quality was rewarded in 2007 when Paringa Estate was awarded the “Best Winery in Australia” in the James Halliday Wine Companion. 2012 saw the extension of the legacy with son Jamie joining the winemaking team which he now leads. Paringa Estate is not only one of the earliest wineries in the region but has cemented it’s position as one of the leading wineries from Mornington Peninsula.
