Wine Notes | Blackberry, blueberry, cherry pie with a spicy crust, polished cedar and menthol. Medium-bodied, dark chocolate and baking spice, dried herbs and black olive, supple tannin, a brine and nori savoury aspect, dense feel to it, though not heavy, and a silty tannin and baked raspberry finish of good length. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon 15 % Merlot and 13% Malbec. Cabernet from the Sheoak vineyard in Yallingup, the other bits from the Simpson vineyard, mmmmm chocolaty. |

NOCTURNE
Nocturne is the husband-and-wife partnership between Julian Langworthy and his wife Alana. The two met as young winemakers in South Australia. They have now been producing their own side-project wines together for over 12 years. Nocturne is producing highly awarded single-vineyard wines from exceptional sites in Margaret River. This is the region where Julian grew up and where he’s honed his winemaking skills. In the process he’s won just about every prize imaginable, having taken out Winemaker of the Year for the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion, the 2016 Jimmy Watson Memorial trophy, at Royal Melbourne in the space of just a couple of years.
Julian and Alana are smart, ambitious and acutely sensitive to the best fruit sources in the region – including their pride and joy, their Sheoak Vineyard with its beautifully mature Cabernet vines. Nocturne is now comprised of two wine ranges. The Single Vineyard or SV range and the Sub Regional or SR range. The SV Sheaok Cabernet and SV Tassell Park Chardonnay remain as ever awesomely epic expressions of the best sites in Margaret River. These wines are so mouth-wateringly good but alas they remain in tiny allocations….. The SR range well its very cool and getting cooler by the minute. The Nocturne SR Cabernet is one such wine. It is a pleasure to present these dazzlingly vibrant, stylish and engaging wines that are a real joy to drink.
