Wine notes | Kalleske Greenock Shiraz is a single vineyard wine sourced from a low yielding block. Powerful intense flavours of dark fruits as you would expect. Toasty oak with fine ripe tannins give a strong backbone and a long finish. |

Kalleske
In South Australia’s Barossa Valley, the Kalleske family have been farming and growing grapes since 1853 near the village of Greenock. Due to this depth of experience, they are one of the region’s leading grape growing families. The quality of these grapes results in the Kalleske’s being part of the select few that are chosen to provide Shiraz grapes for the world renowned Penfold’s Grange.
Seventh generation brothers, Troy and Tony established the winery in 2002. This winery is now certified as an organic and biodynamic producer. They are caretakers of the land and not only want to maintain the environment but improve it for future generations. As a result of this philosophy they have been awarded best organic wine producer at the 2013 International Wine Challenge. More recently, the Kalleske’s were also awarded best organic producer in Australia.
Since the first wine release in 2004, Kalleske has rapidly gained a reputation for producing top-quality hand crafted wines. So much so that Kalleske winery has received accolades from James Halliday in 2014 as best producer in Barossa. They have also maintained a 5 star rating with Halliday’s Wine Companion since 2013. Wines such as the Kalleske Greenock Shiraz typify their ability to handcraft incredible wines of depth and flavour. Classic Barossa Shiraz from South Australia.
Accolades & Awards
95 Points – James Halliday’s Wine Companion.
Kalleske shiraz is always rich in subregional DNA with great concentration and density, ferrous-edged tannins and a smooth, velvety palate of deep plum and dark berry fruits with underlying baking spices, licorice, dark chocolate, olive tapenade and earth. Structured yet possessing energy and drive. An excellent release for this western Barossa estate.
