Wine Notes | Dried rose perfume here, in with blackcurrant, plum, milk chocolate and a little mint. It’s medium-bodied, kind of light in a way, but densely packed with flavour and feels concentrated. Some tobacco and dried herb, cool acidity, pulverised rock tannin, and a long sweet red fruit and floral finish. A modern take on classic Bordeaux, crying out for slow roasted lamb shoulder. |

Koerner Wines
Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. The wines are produced from fruit grown in the Watervale area of the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from the family vineyard. Gullyview vineyard has been owned and managed by their parents, (Christine & Anthony Koerner), for the past 38 years. Koerner The Clare Red is a tribute to the traditional varieties grown in the area.
The winemaking philosophy is very simple – that is the wines are made in the vineyard. The Koerner’s pick early and use very hands-off winemaking techniques. As a result, the wines are light, fresh, textured and well-structured with high drinkability in mind.
The Koerner brothers truly bridge the gap between tradition and the natural wine movement. There is a family heritage with the fruit coming from well established 40 year old family owned vineyards. However, experimentation with plantings of some more adventurous Mediterranean varieties has bolstered this in recent times. The fruit is treated with minimal intervention, thus creating a new genre of wines not seen from the Clare Valley before.
