Wine Notes | "The single coldest site at The Lane could only be planted to Chardonnay. The final wine is taught, harmonious blend of pear, white peach and grapefruit flavours balnaced by refined French oak with a refreshingly dry finish. Also being a cool climate Chardonnay, Pennon Hill shows all the hallmarks -lemon and ime sherbet, nashi pear, ripe nectarine aromas with a hint of brioche and gentle oak. Juicy nectarine and peach flavours are supported by tangy acidity and generous texture just to round out the package. Salmon, mash potatoes and a glass of either Chardonnay. Spot on. |

“After 15 years at The Lane Vineyard, Helen and John Edwards, and sons Marty and Ben, took an important step towards realising their long-held dream – to grow, make and sell estate-based wines that have a true sense of place. In 2005 they commissioned a state-of-the-art 500-tonne winery, bistro and cellar door overlooking their vineyards on picturesque Ravenswood Lane.
Montalto founder John Mitchell’s interest in viticulture and corporate knowledge soon combined to grow Montalto into one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most popular destinations. Under the guiding hand of Simon Black who spent many a year making wine in Burgundy, the wines exhibit true cool climate characteristics. Montalto is rated 5 stars from James Halliday and receives multiple awards on the Australian Show circuit.”
