Wine Notes | The Corsican variety Sciaccarello has been given gentle handling and rendered as a lighter, fresher, summery kind of wine style. All crunch and crispness, sour-cherry meets pomegranate juice with a dusting of herb and spice. It sits light and ultra fresh in the palate, a sophisticated juice more than a wine, per se, though you know you’re into something vinous with the lingering ‘grapeiness’ that follows that lean, racy crackle of ruddy liquid. |

Koerner Wines
Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. The wines are produced from fruit grown in the Watervale area of the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from the family vineyard. Gullyview vineyard has been owned and managed by their parents, (Christine & Anthony Koerner), for the past 38 years. The Koerner Mammolo Sciaccarello is part of the new breed of wines coming from the talented Koerner Brothers
The winemaking philosophy is very simple – that is the wines are made in the vineyard. The Koerner’s pick early and use very hands-off winemaking techniques. As a result, the wines are light, fresh, textured and well-structured with high drinkability in mind.
The Koerner brothers truly bridge the gap between tradition and the natural wine movement. There is a family heritage with the fruit coming from well established 40 year old family owned vineyards. However, experimentation with plantings of some more adventurous Mediterranean varieties has bolstered this in recent times. The fruit is treated with minimal intervention, thus creating a new genre of wines not seen from the Clare Valley before.
