Koerner Wines
Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. The wines are produced from fruit grown in the Watervale area of the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from the family vineyard. Gullyview vineyard has been owned and managed by their parents, (Christine & Anthony Koerner), for the past 38 years. Koerner The Clare Red is a tribute to the traditional varieties grown in the area.
Wines are made in the vineyard is the simple winemaking philosophy. The Koerner’s pick early and use very hands-off winemaking techniques. As a result, the wines are light, fresh, textured and well-structured. And above all, highly drinkable.
The Koerner brothers truly bridge the gap between tradition and the natural wine movement. There is a family heritage with the fruit coming from well established 40 year old family owned vineyards. However, experimentation with plantings of some more adventurous Mediterranean varieties has bolstered this in recent times. The fruit is treated with minimal intervention. This creates a new genre of wines not seen from the Clare Valley before and Koerner The Clare Red is no exception.
